As recommended by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and other child passenger safety experts, rear-facing is the safest position for babies and young children. It helps support their head, neck, and spine by better absorbing crash forces in the event of a collision. In fact, many states require children under the age of one to ride rear-facing by law.

Graco rear-facing infant car seats are designed with features like soft fabrics, infant head and body supports, and, in some models, an anti-rebound bar to help keep your little one comfortable and secure from their very first ride.

The anti-rebound bar in Graco infant car seats is designed to limit seat movement during a frontal collision, reducing rebound rotation and enhancing infant safety. This feature stabilizes the rear-facing car seat, helping to keep the child securely positioned. The anti-rebound bar adds an extra layer of protection to Graco infant car seats.

Many Graco infant car seats feature SnugLock® technology, which helps you achieve a secure installation in less than a minute using either the vehicle seat belt or LATCH system. Select models also include InRight™ LATCH for a one-second connection that's quick and easy to use.

To help ensure proper fit as your baby grows, most Graco infant car seats also come with a no-rethread harness, allowing you to adjust the headrest and harness height together in one simple step. To ensure proper positioning, always make sure your baby’s head is at least 1 inch below the top of the seat, the harness is at or below their shoulders, and the chest clip is at armpit level.

One of the unique benefits of an infant car seat is that the carrier detaches from the base, making it portable so you can be on the go with your baby. This means you only have to install the base in your car, and the carrier simply clicks into place.

The base itself provides a stable foundation for infant car seats, helping to ensure correct installation every time. Some bases feature Graco® SnugLock® technology, which uses a simple three-step installation to help achieve a secure fit using either your vehicle seat belt or LATCH system. To ensure proper installation, always check that the base doesn’t move more than one inch front to back or side to side when pulled at the belt path.

Graco infant car seats feature infant body supports and soft, breathable fabrics to help keep your baby comfortable on the go. While adjustable recline positions are designed to help achieve a secure and level installation, this proper positioning also supports your baby’s posture throughout the ride.

Some Graco infant car seats also include PureProtect™ fabrics, which are chemical-free and exceptionally soft to help keep your baby even more comfortable.

Graco infant car seats are compatible with dedicated car seat bases, allowing easy transfer between vehicles. Families can install multiple Graco bases in different cars, so the car seat clicks in securely without needing to reinstall each time.

For added flexibility, all Graco infant car seats can also be installed without a base using the vehicle seat belt, which is especially helpful when traveling or using a ride share.
