Travel car seat
We got this car seat as an extra one to have on hand for travel and transfers (grandparents or sisters car). I wish it had the other clips to fasten it into the car (with the red clicker buttons) but otherwise this car seat is pretty slick. It's definitely lighter than our 4Ever DLX 4 in 1 convertible, and much more narrow. It does seem to be a bit harder to fasten into the car/tighten but I'm sure that's mostly because it is slim and doesn't have the giant base like our other car seat. Overall happy with this purchase, we were looking at the Cosco Scenera and I'm glad we didn't get that one. For double the price the Graco Contender is well worth every penny and seems much more durable and from a safety perspective that's important to us.

Harness strap disappointment
I have had the contender slim since 2023. I have loved the car seat however the only thing, I don’t like about the car seat is that the harness straps are not removable. If you read The manual it states to call customer service for assistance. however it’s basically purchase a new car seat if child throws up on the harness straps. My car seat still has years of life however how we can’t continue to use the car seat if we can’t clean the harness straps other than water and we have no option of replacement parts… bummer

I love the slim profile of this car seat and the fact that it is much lighter than a lot of the car seats that I looked at before deciding on this one. I know the Graco brand is well made and highly rated for safety.

Travel Car Seat
I purchased this car seat to use as my travel car seat after my daughter got too tall for the lightweight Cosco car seat we had been using. I tried to find information about people's experiences with this seat on planes and couldn't find much, so hopefully this will help if that's what you're looking for! What we learned while traveling with this car seat:
1. It does not fit through the security scanners and has to be manually checked by a TSA agent.
2. For being such a substantial car seat, it is still pretty lightweight. I was able to carry it one-handed after exiting the plane all the way up the ramp to the boarding area.
3. I was not able to use it rear-facing on the plane, even sitting in Economy Plus on United, because it was hitting the seat in front of us (but I did have the height up a couple notches higher than the lowest setting). You would not be able to fit this rear-facing in United standard economy. Also, getting the seat from the aisle to the window seat is a little tricky due to the size if the row isn't empty when you go to put it in (i.e. your toddler is standing in the row with you waiting for you to get situated).
4. This seat fits forward-facing beautifully. It's narrow enough to fit easily between the arm rests on a United Airbus A320.
5. The dedicated belt path is such a great feature. My daughter was so comfortable without having the airplane seatbelt poking her in the back the whole flight. Trying to open the belt flap inside the belt path is a little tricky after you tighten it down. There's just enough room to pop it open when you go to remove the seat.
6. Installing this into the rental car was super easy and was probably the fastest car seat install I've ever done. My daughter was able to rear-face in the rental car and was very comfortable riding in this car seat during our trip.
Overall, I recommend this car seat for a (air) travel car seat. The only exception would be if your child is still small enough that they must use the car seat in rear facing mode on an airplane. This car seat is well-built, comfortable, and sturdy.

Junk!
We purchased this car seat a few months ago. This was our first time purchasing a graco car seat, we will not be purchasing another. This car seat feels cheaply made to begin with. Once we've tried to install it (Along with the fire department) the car seat feels like it cannot get tight enough. It is extremely wobbly. I can literally grab the back of the car seat with my child in it and flip the car seat over... I highly doubt that is supposed to happen. I have tried this on our other three car seats and none of them will do this. I never leave reviews but this car seat seems extremely unsafe. Sadly we missed the cut off to return it (our fault for not opening the car seat within the 30 days). Customer service employee was nice but not able to do anything to help outside of the 30 day return policy. Highly disappoint in Graco for not having a better policy for customers that felt unsafe with the first car seat purchased from them. Save yourself the headache and doubt, go for a better car seat.

Great Carseat
Got this for when we take our 1 1/2 year old grandson. This was easy to install, we have it rear facing at the moment and will turn it front facing when he is old enough. We can also remove it easily when we don't need it in the car. Our son and daughter-in-law approve of it also.
